Ed Kelly and his wife Tami just returned from a week-long trip to Nassau, Bahamas where they reunited with their daughter Tara, who was on the island during Hurricane Dorian.
Kelly, a service delivery manager for High Wire’s Overwatch Managed Security, says his daughter lost power for two days and had flooding near her home
Together, he and his wife raised money from family and friends and delivered a half-ton of supplies to various charities in the Bahamas, in hopes of helping an estimated 70,000 displaced residents and animals.
“My daughter is hearing stories from the shelters that are incredibly sad,” said Kelly. “One father, she heard, had a toddler literally ripped from his arms by a wave from the storm surge.”
Nassau was spared the wrath of Hurricane Dorian but homes in Grand Bahama Island and Abaco Islands are completely leveled from the Category 5 storm. The official death toll is 53 with the number only expected to rise. One thousand people are still missing.
